New CNC machined steel D-type Pinion gear, hardened to HRC 55-58. Generally most aftermarket and stock pinion gears are injection molded and then hardened to HRC 40. The teeth often get worn down after a certain amount of usage. I tested these new pinions over several months and only noticed light polishing of the teeth, zero damage. Check out the video of the test version.
Additionally these pinions have a small bevel cut out of the bottom of the tooth, this is to allow for a smoother connection with the bevel gear. Comes with grub screw.
Brushed Motor Installation
Standard fitment, use a pinion removal tool for the old pinion. The new pinion should be a tight fit. Gently tap and then secure with grub screw and threadlock.
Brushless Motor Installation
Fitting a replacement pinion on a brushless motor is a little more complicated. Generally you cannot force fit the new gear without first removing the armatuer from the motor, this requires desoldering the controller. You can fit without desoldering the controller however you generally have to remove a small amount of material from the motor shaft.
